Atomiser Spray Bottle has stopped sprayingUpdated 3 days ago

TL;DR: Twist off the head of your Atomiser Spray Bottle, soak it in warm water for a few minutes, then reattach and pump the trigger twelve or more times to flush the mist path. That clears most blockages straight away.

How do I get Atomiser Spray Bottle spraying again?

Twist off the trigger head and check the internal tube is still attached. Soak the head in warm water for a few minutes, then submerge it and pump the trigger quickly to flush warm water right through the mist path. After about thirty seconds, reassemble the bottle, prime the pump with two or three pulls and test it. In most cases the blockage clears immediately.

✓ The fix, step by step

1

Twist off the trigger head and check that the internal tube is still firmly attached.

2

Soak the head in warm water for a few minutes.

3

Submerge the head and pump the trigger quickly for about thirty seconds so warm water runs right through the mist path.

4

Reassemble, prime with two or three pulls, and test the spray.

Why did it block in the first place?

The Atomiser produces a very fine mist through a narrow spray path, so residue builds up over time. The most common cause is essential oil. More than three drops of oil in the bottle can clog or damage the pump mechanism. Diluting Universal Cleaner or filling the bottle with a thicker liquid will also affect spray performance.

✓ Most common cause

A very fine mist runs through a narrow path, so residue collects. Essential oil residue in the nozzle is the usual culprit.

Residue build-up

⚠ Three drops of essential oil, no more

More than three drops of essential oil in Atomiser Spray Bottle can clog or damage the pump mechanism. Stick to three drops maximum and shake well after adding.

Essential oils do not naturally dissolve in a water-based cleaner, so mix thoroughly rather than adding more.

3 drops maximum Shake after adding Koh oils only

✓ Also worth checking

Universal Cleaner should be used undiluted. Diluting it, or filling the bottle with a thicker liquid, affects spray performance.

Do not dilute Universal Cleaner only

What if it sprays weakly, drips, or stops when tilted?

A weak spray usually means the pump has not been primed; pump the trigger several times to build pressure and check the nozzle is in the on position. Dripping usually means the nozzle has been left open or the pump has been over-tightened, so turn the nozzle fully off and store the bottle upright. If the spray stops when you tilt the bottle, the weighted ball at the end of the internal tube is not moving freely; shake the bottle gently and check the tube is securely attached inside.

Prime the pump

✓ Leaks or drips

Turn the nozzle fully off when the bottle is not in use, store it upright, and avoid over-tightening the pump.

Check the bottle and trigger for cracks or damage.

✓ Stops when tilted

A weighted ball at the end of the internal tube lets the Atomiser spray at any angle. Shake the bottle gently so the ball moves freely and check the tube is securely attached inside.

What if it still will not spray?

Repeat the warm water soak and flush once more, checking that the internal tube is seated properly in the head. If the bottle still will not spray after that, get in touch with the Koh UK team and we will sort it out with you.
