Can I use Tea Towels to grab hot dishes?Updated 5 days ago
TL;DR: Tea Towels are fine for warm crockery and everyday kitchen tasks, but they are not heat-protective equipment. Avoid direct contact with very hot oven trays, pans and open flames, and use an oven mitt or a trivet for anything straight out of the oven.
Can I use Tea Towels to grab hot dishes?
✓ Fine for everyday warmth
Tea Towels are durable 410 GSM microfibre and perform well in normal kitchen use. For warm crockery, or for lifting something that is not extremely hot, folding the towel to several layers gives short-term protection.
⚠ Not for high heat
Hot oven trays, pots or pans straight from the oven or hob: use oven mitts, heat-resistant gloves or a trivet.
Never use on or near open flames, and never as a pad for very hot cookware sitting directly on the fabric.
Microfibre is a synthetic material that can soften, deform or melt at high temperatures. Treat Tea Towels as cleaning and drying tools, not as heat-protective equipment.
What should I do after contact with heat or grease?
✓ Grease cleanup
If the towel picks up grease or food residue, spray it with Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner and work it in gently, then launder promptly following the care instructions.
⚠ When to replace
If a towel is scorched, discoloured or sticky from heat damage, stop using it for kitchen tasks and replace it. Damaged microfibre will not absorb or polish properly. More on this in recycling and lifespan.
Does the weave change anything around heat?
✓ Same fabric, same limits
Both weaves are the same 410 GSM microfibre and the same 60 by 40 cm size. The difference is surface texture, which changes how they dry and polish, not how they handle heat. See which weave to pick and what they are made from.

Two weaves in one pack: waffle for drying, diamond for polishing. 410 GSM microfibre that absorbs up to 7 times its weight and dries 4 times faster than cotton, with no paper-towel lint.
