Do I need the Foaming Spray Bottle? Could I use an alternative sprayer?Updated 3 days ago

TL;DR: Bathroom & Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner and Stain Remover are formulated to be foamed. Foaming Spray Bottle aerates them as they leave the nozzle so the formula clings where you spray it. A standard sprayer will still dispense the liquid, but it runs off vertical surfaces instead of sitting there and working.

Why do foaming formulas need a foaming nozzle?

The foaming head aerates the liquid as it is dispensed, turning it into a soft foam that clings to the surface and gives the formula time to work. A standard trigger sprayer simply atomises the liquid, so on a vertical surface such as a shower screen, a splashback or a tiled wall it runs straight down before it has done anything. You get more drips, more overspray, and you use more product to cover the same area.

✓ What the nozzle does

It aerates the formula as it leaves the bottle, turning liquid into a soft foam.

Aerates the formula

✓ Why that matters

Foam clings to vertical surfaces and stays put, giving the formula contact time to break down soap scum or grease.

Contact time Clings

✓ What you avoid

Less dripping, less overspray, and less product used to cover the same area.

Less waste

Can I use a different spray bottle?

A standard spray bottle will dispense the liquid, so nothing will break, but it will not foam. You lose the cling and the contact time that these formulas are designed around, so the result is usually a watery, uneven clean that takes more product. There is no separate dosing or dilution to get right; the foaming formulas go into the foamer neat.

✓ It will spray

A standard sprayer will dispense the liquid without any harm to it. Nothing about the formula is dangerous in another bottle.

Safe, just weaker

✓ It will not foam

You lose the cling and the contact time these formulas are designed around, so the clean is usually watery and uneven.

No cling

✓ No dilution needed

Koh foaming formulas go into Foaming Spray Bottle neat. There is no measuring or dilution step to get wrong.

Fill neat

Could I use my Atomiser instead?

No. The Atomiser and the Foaming Spray Bottle are different mechanisms for different formulas. The Atomiser produces a fine mist and is built exclusively for Universal Cleaner. The foamer aerates thicker formulas into foam. Filling either with the other's formula will give you poor results and can clog the pump.

Atomiser Spray Bottle

Produces a fine, aerosol-style mist. Built exclusively for Universal Cleaner.

A weighted ball in the internal tube lets it spray at any angle, even upside down.

Fine mist Universal Cleaner only

Foaming Spray Bottle

Aerates thicker formulas into clinging foam. Built for the three foaming products.

Held upright for best output.

⚠ Do not swap the fills

Filling either bottle with the other's formula gives poor results and can clog the pump. Both are tuned to a specific formula viscosity.

Not interchangeable

Which products go in the foamer?

Bathroom & Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner and Stain Remover. Universal Cleaner, Dishwashing Liquid and Sensitive Laundry Liquid are not designed to foam and can cause a weak spray, clogs, or no output.

Bathroom & Shower Cleaner

Foams up for better contact on tiles, grout and glass, and lets the formula sit on vertical surfaces instead of running off.

Bathroom

Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner

Foam clings to vertical surfaces like extractor hoods and splashbacks while it lifts grease.

Kitchen

Stain Remover

Pre-treat or spray directly onto fabric. The foam helps the formula sit where you need it before washing.

Laundry

⚠ Not compatible

Do not fill Foaming Spray Bottle with Universal Cleaner, Dishwashing Liquid or Sensitive Laundry Liquid. These formulas are not designed to foam and can cause a weak spray, clogs, or no output at all.

The foaming mechanism is tuned to specific formula viscosities, which is why only the approved Koh products work properly.
