How do I wash Tea Towels?

Machine wash Koh Tea Towels separately at a maximum of 40 degrees, with Sensitive Laundry Liquid or Sensitive Laundry Sheets. Wash them apart from lint-producing fabrics like cotton, especially for the first few washes. Do not use fabric softener, dryer sheets or bleach, because these coat or damage the microfibre and reduce absorbency.

How to wash

1

Temperature: wash at a maximum of 40 degrees.

2

Detergent: Sensitive Laundry Liquid or Sensitive Laundry Sheets. Make sure the towel is rinsed thoroughly so no detergent residue is left behind.

3

Wash separately from lint-producing fabrics like cotton towels or fleece, especially for the first few washes. Use a gentle cycle and keep zips or hook-and-loop fasteners out of the load.

⚠ Avoid

No fabric softener or dryer sheets. These coat the microfibre and reduce absorbency.

No bleach. Bleach damages microfibre and shortens the towel’s life.

No ironing. Microfibre is synthetic, so skip the iron.

No fabric softener No bleach No ironing No dryer sheets

How do I dry Tea Towels?

Line dry Koh Tea Towels only. The care instruction is line dry, so do not tumble dry them. Make sure they are completely dry before storing, to keep them fresh and prevent damp smells.

✓ Line dry only

Line dry to preserve the fibres and absorbency. The care instruction is line dry only, so do not tumble dry. Microfibre dries around 4 times faster than cotton, so this is quick. Make sure the towels are completely dry before storing.

Line dry only No tumble dry Store dry

How do I restore absorbency?

If Koh Tea Towels start to feel less absorbent, it is usually detergent or fabric softener residue. Wash them with a cup of white vinegar and no detergent to strip the residue, then run a normal wash with detergent. Always store the towels completely dry, and trim any loose threads rather than pulling them.

✓ Restoring absorbency

Microfibre loses absorbency mostly from softener or detergent residue. If the towels start to feel less absorbent, wash them with a cup of white vinegar and no detergent to strip the residue, then run a second wash with detergent as normal. Store the towels completely dry, and trim loose threads rather than pulling them to prevent snags. More fixes in Tea Towel not absorbing.

White vinegar rinse No detergent first Trim, do not pull

How do I reduce fibre shedding?

Wash Koh Tea Towels only when they need it, and use a microfibre laundry bag to reduce shedding into the wash water. Avoid washing them with lint-producing items like cotton, use a gentle cycle, and keep zips and hook-and-loop fasteners out of the load to protect the towel surface.

✓ Use a microfibre wash bag

To minimise environmental impact, wash the towels only when they need it, and consider a microfibre laundry bag to reduce shedding into the wash water.

✓ Protect the surface

Avoid washing with lint-producing items like cotton. Use a gentle cycle and keep zips or hook-and-loop fasteners out of the load, since they catch and pull the fibres.
