✓ Compressed fibres

After multiple uses, the chenille pile compresses and dust pickup drops. To restore it, take the mitt outside, give it a brisk shake, then lightly brush the fibres with your free hand to lift the pile. A cold gentle wash also brings the fluff back.

⚠ What shortens its life

Fabric softener coats the fibres and reduces dust pickup. Tumble drying damages the mitt and flattens the pile. Hot washing goes against the cold-water care instruction. Any of these can end the mitt's useful life well before the 50-wash mark.
