All chemical compounds have a level of toxicity.

The active ingredient in Protect Skin, Benzalkonium Chloride, is in its pure form toxic to humans. However, at the level of concentration that it's been use within Koh Protect Skin, it is considered non-toxic. 

This has been independently verified by toxicologists, showing low level toxicity and low risk for irritation when used topically at a dilution of ~0.1%.
