Coating

Silica alumina abrasive film bonded onto the foam. This is the gritty surface that grinds through hard water stains, soap scum and baked-on residue where softer sponges give up.

Where they are made

Diamond Sponges are manufactured in China. There is no warranty on Diamond Sponges, as they are a consumable scrubbing tool that wears down with use.

What that grit means in practice

⚠ Not kerbside recyclable

The abrasive coating is bonded to the foam core and cannot be separated at standard facilities. Mixed-material items contaminate kerbside recycling and get sent straight to landfill. Check with your local recycling facility for disposal options.

⚠ Not compost or soft plastics

PU foam does not biodegrade, so compost and garden waste are out. The silica alumina grit means soft-plastic collection points and TerraCycle programmes cannot take them either.

✓ Reuse for dirtier jobs

When the sponge is too smooth for kitchen and bathroom work, move it outdoors. It still scrubs BBQ grills, garden pots, muddy tool handles, outdoor furniture and boot soles.

Final disposal
