What are the ingredients of Bathroom & Shower Cleaner?
✓ All twelve, in INCI order
Aqua (deionised water). Solvent base. Carries the other ingredients and rinses cleanly off surfaces.
Ethanol. Solvent. Cuts oils and helps the foam spread evenly across surfaces.
Sodium lauryl sulfate. Low-foam wetting surfactant. Wets the surface and lifts soil.
Cocamidopropyl betaine. Mild surfactant. Works alongside the above to loosen soap scum and body oils.
Sodium xylene sulfonate. Hydrotrope. Keeps the formula stable and evenly mixed.
Sodium metasilicate pentahydrate. Builder. Helps the formula deal with grease.
Trisodium dicarboxymethyl alaninate. Chelator. Grips hard-water minerals so they rinse away rather than redeposit.
Polyacrylic acid sodium salt. Anti-redeposition agent. Stops lifted soil settling back onto the surface.
Xanthan gum. Thickener. Gives the foam enough body to cling to vertical surfaces.
Phenoxyethanol. Preservative. Keeps the formula stable over its shelf life.
Lipase. Enzyme. Breaks down fats and body oils.
Tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E). Antioxidant, and a skin-friendly ingredient.
What is not in Bathroom & Shower Cleaner?
✓ Left out on purpose
No chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite). No added fragrance. No phosphates. No quaternary ammonium disinfectants, and no benzalkonium chloride. No parabens. No synthetic dyes. Low in sodium, so it does not harm the microbes in septic and greywater systems, and made from readily biodegradable ingredients.
What is the pH, shelf life and origin?
✓ pH around 8
Mildly alkaline, just above neutral. Traditional bathroom cleaners are often strongly acidic, such as vinegar-based descalers at pH 2 to 3, or strongly alkaline, such as ammonia products at pH 11 to 13. Effective without the harshness.
✓ Shelf life, storage and origin
Around 12 months from manufacture when stored sealed, cool and out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze it or leave it in the heat. Made in Australia.
Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet?
✓ Safety Data Sheet
If you need the formal document for a workplace assessment, a landlord or a facilities team, the Safety Data Sheet is what to hand over rather than this page.
