The Dish Pump bottle is 500 ml high-density polyethylene (HDPE) blended with 10% Adflex resin, which gives it the soft-touch matte finish. It is made with 50% recycled plastic content and contains the Reloop® additive, which is designed to activate in microbe-rich environments such as landfill or soil, where it attracts microbes that break the plastic's long molecular chains into biomass, water and carbon dioxide rather than microplastics. The stated timeframe for that process is 3 to 6 years. It does not change how the bottle performs in everyday use, and it is not a reason to throw the bottle away: refilling and reusing it for as long as possible is still the better outcome. The pump head is an actuator with an internal metal spring, finished with a matte spray coating. Dish Pump is made in China. Both parts are designed to be reused and refilled rather than discarded.

Not through kerbside recycling. Although the bottle is HDPE, the 10% Adflex resin that creates the soft-touch matte finish means it is not accepted in standard kerbside collections. The pump head cannot be recycled either, because the metal spring is sealed inside the plastic actuator and most facilities cannot separate the two. When it does reach the end of its life, put it in general household waste, or check whether your local council runs a specialist plastics scheme.

Because Dish Pump is a keep-forever bottle rather than a recyclable one, keeping it in service is the most useful thing you can do. Refill it from Dishwashing Liquid rather than replacing it, rinse the nozzle occasionally with warm water to stop residue building up inside, and store it upright in a cool, dry place. The mechanism is rated for around 3,000 presses with proper care.
