How do I open the Bag in Box?Updated 17 days ago
TL;DR: Stand the box upright, push the perforated panel on the front inward to reveal the black tap, peel the silver film off the tip, then pull the tap out to pour and push it back in to stop. Same mechanism on Universal Cleaner, Bathroom & Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner, Dishwashing Liquid and Sensitive Laundry Liquid.
How do I open the Bag in Box?
Push the perforated panel on the front
Stand the box upright on a flat surface. Find the perforated cut-out on the front panel and press it inward with your fingers. A black tap sits behind it.
Peel the silver film off the tap
A small silver film seals the tip of the tap in transit. Peel it off and discard it. The tap will not flow until this is removed.
Pull to pour, push to stop
Pull the tap outward to start the flow and push it back in to stop. Rest it against the cardboard edge of the cut-out for stability and aim into your bottle. The bladder stays inside the box, so there is nothing to take out.
Which Koh products come in a Bag in Box?
✓ These five use the Bag in Box
- Universal Cleaner
- Bathroom & Shower Cleaner
- Kitchen Grease & Oil Cleaner
- Dishwashing Liquid
- Sensitive Laundry Liquid
The tap and panel work the same way on all five, so these steps apply whichever box you have opened.
✓ Sheets and tabs are not Bag in Box
Sensitive Laundry Sheets, Dishwashing Tabs and Loo Cleaner Tabs are not liquids, so there is no tap or perforated panel to find on those packs.
There's no tap when I push the panel. What now?
✓ The bladder is the wrong way round
No tap behind the panel means the bladder went into the box the wrong way round at manufacturing. It is fixable, and it is not how the box should have arrived.
✓ Open the top by hand
Koh boxes are sealed with glue rather than tape, so pull the top flaps gently to separate the adhesive.
✓ Rotate and reinsert
Lift the bladder out, turn it so the tap lines up with the perforated panel, and slide it back in. If you would rather not handle it, photograph the box and the bladder and get in touch, and we will arrange a replacement.
⚠ No scissors, box cutters or knives
The bladder inside is plastic and a blade will pierce it. Open the top of the box with your hands only, and take the glued flaps slowly.
