My mop bottle is stuck | How to openUpdated 3 days ago
TL;DR: The Spray Mop bottle can sit snugly in the holster, especially on a new mop. Lay the mop flat on a stable surface, hold the holster steady with one hand, and twist the bottle back and forth while pulling outward. If it still will not budge, check the silicone cap inside the holster.
My mop bottle is stuck | How to open
✓ Four steps
A snug fit is normal, especially on a new mop. The holster is designed to grip the bottle so it does not rattle while you mop.
1 Lay the mop flat. A table or kitchen worktop works well. You get far better control than trying to do it with the mop upright.
2 Hold the holster firmly. One hand on the holster section, where the bottle clips in.
3 Twist and pull. Other hand on the bottle. Twist back and forth while pulling outward to break the seal.
4 Lever if needed. The back of a spoon or a similar flat tool gently levers the bottle away at the connection point. Steady pressure, and do not force it.
▶ Watch: removing the bottle
What if the bottle is still stuck?
✓ Check the silicone cap
The most likely cause. The silicone cap inside the holster can shift out of position over time and jam the fit. Look into the holster opening and check whether it is sitting flush, then reposition it carefully with tweezers if it is not. If the cap is damaged or missing, we can send you a replacement.
✓ Snug is normal
The holster is designed to grip the bottle firmly so it does not rattle while you mop. A brand new mop will feel tighter than one that has been in use for a while, and the fit eases slightly over time.
⚠ Still stuck after all of that?
If the cap looks fine and the bottle will not release, get in touch with a photo or short video of the issue and we will take it from there. A Spray Mop Bottle is also available on its own if yours is damaged. The silicone cap is not sold online, so just ask us and we will send you one.
How do I keep the bottle in good shape?
✓ Empty and rinse
If you are not mopping again soon, empty the bottle so stale liquid is not sitting in the mechanism. Rinse with cool tap water and let it air-dry.
✓ If it smells
Wash the bottle with warm, not hot, soapy water. Rinse well and dry it fully before refilling.
⚠ Only Universal Cleaner or water
Fill the bottle with Universal Cleaner or plain water, and nothing else. Citrus-based essential oils can degrade the plastic, so keep those out. Hot or boiling water can damage the bottle and the trigger mechanism over time.
