If the stain is still there after a wash, treat it again before it goes anywhere near heat. Check the item is still damp or dampen the area, spray Stain Remover from the Foaming Spray Bottle until the mark is evenly covered with foam, and use it at full strength rather than diluting it. Leave it 10 to 15 minutes on a second application, which is longer than the 5 to 10 minutes a first treatment needs. Agitate gently with a soft brush, then rewash following the garment care label. Air dry and check the result before using a dryer or an iron.

How do I use Stain Remover?

The usual reasons a stain survives one treatment are that it was not left long enough, the coverage was thin, the stain was old, or heat got to it first. Stain Remover needs 5 to 10 minutes of contact time to work, and the foam needs to cover the whole mark rather than sit on part of it. Fresh stains lift faster than set-in ones. A stain that has already been through a dryer or under a hot iron has been set by that heat and takes more work. None of these mean the product has failed, they usually mean a second, longer application is needed.

If a second treatment has not lifted the mark, check the fabric before going again. Stain Remover is not for wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca or mohair, because the enzymes act on protein fibres. Some stain types also have their own method, hair dye and carpets being the two most common, and those have their own articles. If the fabric is suitable and the stain type is straightforward, a third application is reasonable, but do not keep escalating on a delicate item.
