TL;DR: Universal Cleaner is 100% fragrance-free. No perfumes, no masking agents, no essential oils. If you prefer a scent, add 2 to 3 drops of essential oil to your spray bottle. Is Universal Cleaner scented?

No. Koh Universal Cleaner is 100% fragrance-free by design. The formula is just two ingredients: potassium hydroxide and reverse osmosis water. No perfumes, no essential oils, no masking agents. Can I add a scent to Universal Cleaner?

Yes. Add 2 to 3 drops of essential oil directly to your Atomiser Spray Bottle after filling it with Koh Universal Cleaner. Give it a gentle swirl to combine. Eucalyptus Oil is Koh's own essential oil, formulated to pair with the alkaline formula and to fit a typical atomiser fill. Other essential oils work too. Lavender, lemon, and peppermint are popular choices. Stick to 2 to 3 drops per fill. More than that can interfere with the atomiser spray mechanism by causing the internal dip tube to slip off.

Eucalyptus Oil is Koh’s own essential oil, formulated for use with Universal Cleaner. Fresh, clean herbal scent that pairs well with the alkaline formula. A few drops lasts a full bottle.

Too much essential oil can cause the internal tube inside the Atomiser Spray Bottle to slip off, which stops the bottle spraying properly. Stick to 2 to 3 drops per fill and you’ll be fine.

What if my atomiser stops spraying after I add oil?

Too much essential oil has likely dislodged the internal dip tube inside the Atomiser Spray Bottle. Unscrew the spray head, check that the small plastic tube inside is seated firmly onto the base of the nozzle, and reattach. If the tube looks oily, rinse the spray head with warm water first and let it dry before reattaching. If the bottle still has a high oil concentration, top it up with fresh Koh Universal Cleaner to dilute. Going forward, stick to 2 to 3 drops of essential oil per atomiser fill to avoid the issue.

Unscrew the spray head from the bottle.

Check the small plastic tube inside. Press it firmly back onto the base of the nozzle if it has come loose.

Rinse and dilute if needed. If the tube is oily, rinse the head under warm water, dry, and reattach. Top up the bottle with fresh Universal Cleaner to dilute.
