What is Allergy UK?Updated a day ago

TL;DR: Allergy UK is a British national charity for people living with allergy. Products carrying its approval symbol have been independently tested and approved to help make life more comfortable for people living with allergy. Approval is granted product by product, and Universal Cleaner is the only Koh product that holds it. No other product in the Koh UK range is Allergy UK approved.

✓ One product, not the range

Universal Cleaner is the only Koh product with Allergy UK approval. Every other product in the range is outside that approval.

✓ An independent British charity

Allergy UK is a national charity, not a Koh programme and not a marketing badge we award ourselves.

Allergy UK is a British national charity that supports people living with allergy, intolerance and chemical sensitivity. Alongside its advice and support work it runs a product approval scheme. Products that carry the Allergy UK symbol have been independently tested and approved to help make life more comfortable for people living with allergy. The assessment is carried out by Allergy UK, not by the brand, and it is granted to a specific product rather than to a company or a whole range.

Which Koh products are Allergy UK approved?

One. Universal Cleaner is the only Koh product that holds Allergy UK approval. No other product in the Koh UK range is Allergy UK approved, including Bathroom and Shower Cleaner, Kitchen Grease and Oil Cleaner, Dishwashing Liquid, Dishwashing Tabs, Loo Cleaner Tabs, Stain Remover, Sensitive Laundry Liquid and Sensitive Laundry Sheets. Approval under the scheme is granted to a specific product, so it does not carry across to anything else we sell. If a product has not been assessed, it is not approved, and we will not describe it as though it were.

Universal Cleaner

Two ingredients, no added fragrance and no added dye. The one Koh product assessed and approved under the scheme.

⚠ What the Allergy UK symbol does not mean

It is not a range-wide accreditation. Seeing the symbol on Universal Cleaner does not mean any other Koh product carries it, and we do not present the range as Allergy UK approved.

It is also not a medical claim and not a guarantee that nobody will react. If you have a diagnosed allergy or a skin condition, check the ingredient list and speak to your GP or specialist before using any cleaning product.

Approval is per product

How is this different from the other marks on Koh packaging?

The marks on Koh packaging are separate schemes run by separate bodies, and each one is granted product by product. Allergy UK is a British allergy charity and its approval relates to living with allergy. GECA is Good Environmental Choice Australia, an environmental ecolabel, and it is held by Universal Cleaner, Dishwashing Tabs and Loo Cleaner Tabs only. They are different claims, assessed against different criteria, and holding one says nothing about holding the other. A product can carry one mark, both, or neither.

What is GECA?

The other mark on Koh packaging: what the Australian ecolabel assesses, and the three products that hold it.
