Does Sensitive Laundry Liquid deodorise fabrics?Updated 4 days ago

TL;DR: Yes. Sensitive Laundry Liquid deodorises fabrics by breaking down the body oils, sweat residues, and food matter that actually cause odours, rather than covering them with fragrance. It contains no added fragrance, so any freshness comes from effective cleaning, not scent layering. Set-in or stubborn smells (gym kit, musty towels) benefit from a pre-soak.

Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid before and after

How does it remove odours?

Most fabric odours come from organic residues trapped in the fibres: body oils, sweat, skin proteins, and food matter that bacteria feed on. Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid contains a targeted enzyme system that breaks these residues down at the source rather than covering them with fragrance. Because the underlying odour-causing material is removed, the result is a genuinely clean fabric, not a fragranced one. The product contains no added fragrance, so any freshness customers notice after washing comes from effective cleaning rather than scent layering. For best results, use the correct dose for the load size (24ml for regular, 40ml for large or heavily soiled), avoid overloading the machine which limits enzyme contact with the fabric, and wash sweaty or heavily worn items promptly before bacteria has time to colonise the residues and set the smell in.

✓ No fragrance, just clean

Many detergents rely on added fragrance to mask smells. Sensitive Laundry Liquid contains no added fragrance. Any freshness comes from effective cleaning, not scent layering.

For best results

✓  Use 24ml (6 pumps) for a regular load, 40ml (10 pumps) for large or heavily soiled

✓  Don't overload the machine, enzymes need contact with the fabric

✓  Wash sweaty or heavily worn items promptly before smells set in

What about stubborn or set-in smells?

Set-in smells like gym clothes, sports kits, towels left damp in the laundry basket, or musty fabrics from a long wash backlog need more contact time with the enzymes than a regular wash cycle gives. The fix is a pre-soak. Fill a tub or bucket with warm water (around 30 to 40 degrees, warm but not hot, hot water reduces enzyme activity), add 24ml of Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid per 5 litres of water, then submerge the smelly items and leave for at least 30 minutes (longer if the smell is well established, up to a few hours). Then either drain and rinse, or transfer the items directly to the washing machine and run a normal cycle. The pre-soak gives the enzymes the extra contact time they need to break down odour-causing residues that have penetrated deep into the fibres. Note: Koh Sensitive Laundry Liquid is not suitable for wool, silk, cashmere, or alpaca. The enzymes can break down these animal-fibre fabrics. Hand-wash these with a wool-and-silk-specific detergent instead.

✓ Pre-soak first

For gym clothes, sports kits, damp towels, or musty fabrics from a long wash backlog, give the enzymes more contact time. Fill a tub with warm water (around 30 to 40 degrees, warm but not hot), add 24ml of Sensitive Laundry Liquid per 5 litres of water, submerge the items, and leave for at least 30 minutes (longer if the smell is well established). Then run a normal wash cycle.

⚠ Not for wool, silk, or other animal fibres

The enzymes in Sensitive Laundry Liquid can break down protein-based fibres. Avoid using on wool, silk, cashmere, and alpaca hand-wash these with a wool-and-silk-specific detergent instead.
