Who are Eden Reforestation Project?Updated an hour ago

TL;DR: Eden Reforestation Projects is a reforestation organisation, now operating as Eden: People+Planet. It employs people in local communities to grow, plant and protect trees, which restores degraded land and creates paid work at the same time. Koh partnered with Eden between 2020 and 2024 and planted one tree for every order placed. That programme has ended, so a Koh order placed today does not plant a tree.

✓ Now called Eden: People+Planet

The organisation you may know as Eden Reforestation Projects has since renamed. Same work, different name.

✓ Our partnership ran 2020 to 2024

We are keeping this article up because customers ask about it. It describes something we did, not something running now.

Eden Reforestation Projects is a non-profit organisation focused on reforestation and ecological restoration, now operating under the name Eden: People+Planet. Its model is to employ people from local villages to grow, plant and protect trees rather than to fly in outside labour, which restores degraded forest and creates paid, ongoing work in the same place. It has worked in countries including Nepal, Indonesia, Madagascar, Kenya and Mozambique. It is an independent organisation and it is not owned by, funded solely by, or run by Koh.

What was Koh's involvement?

Between 2020 and 2024 Koh partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects and planted one tree for every order placed. Trees were planted through Eden's projects in Nepal, Indonesia and Africa, which alongside restoring forest created a source of work and income for the communities doing the planting. That partnership ran for that period and has since ended. We have left this article in place because customers still ask about it, but it describes something we did rather than something running now.

⚠ This is not a live programme

An order placed with Koh UK today does not plant a tree, and we do not want anyone buying on that basis. If you are choosing between products because of the tree-planting programme, that programme has closed.

We have kept this article up because it is a question we still get, not because the partnership is running.

So what does Koh do now?

The programme Koh runs now is a partnership with Greenspark and Plastic Bank that rescues ocean-bound plastic. Plastic Bank works with coastal communities in Haiti, Brazil, the Philippines and Indonesia, paying collectors a premium for the plastic waste they gather, which gives them a fair and sustainable income. The collected material is then reprocessed and reintegrated into products and packaging. The current terms of that programme are published on the Our Impact page on the Koh UK site, and that page is the source to check rather than this one, because the details can change.
